MCF advised the owners of Katsa on the sale to Twin Disc
Katsa Oy, a Tampere-based designer and manufacturer of high-quality power transmission components and gearboxes, has been sold to Twin Disc, Inc., a publicly listed global transmission equipment specialist. Katsa is in a strong position to continue its successful journey with Twin Disc as a new and experienced owner to support the company’s next stage of growth.

The Deal
After having been managed for over 60 years as a family business, the current owners of Katsa have decided to sell the business to Twin Disc, a global transmission equipment specialist. With Twin Disc as a new owner, the family has ensured a stable owner that will continue to drive the business forward and care for its customers and employees. With the acquisition of Katsa, Twin Disc will broaden its global reach through further expansion into growing European markets, while also adding complementary products to grow offerings in the industrial, marine and hybrid/electrification space.
The Target
Founded in 1955, Katsa is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality power transmission components and gearboxes. The company’s products are used globally in e.g., marine engines, power plants, paper machines and many other demanding applications. Katsa is headquartered in Tampere with production facilities in three locations and employs approx. 170 people. During latest fiscal-year ending in September 2023 Katsa’s revenue equalled approximately EUR 33 million.
